Helping AI move from research into practical use.
Co-chaired the working group on innovation and commercialization, with a focus on adoption, smaller businesses and intellectual property.
With Françoise Soulié-Fogelman, I co-chaired GPAI’s Innovation and Commercialization Working Group during its first phase of work. Our mandate connected AI research with products, processes and the organizations that could benefit from them.
Our joint October 2020 article set out an agenda that included trust throughout the product lifecycle, new business and data-sharing models, intellectual property, and the role of government measures such as procurement.
The 2021 work advanced two areas: resources to help small and medium-sized enterprises adopt AI, and an initial primer on AI innovation and intellectual property. The group’s report includes our joint foreword and credits the project teams who developed those outputs.
